Painted: Raven Guard Battle Demi-Company

file_005-2

In a surprisingly short time frame (a month and a half, maybe two?) I’ve completed my Raven Guard Battle Demi-Company. Assembling and painting them was an absolute joy, and on the board they will form the core of my 1850 point Talon Strike Force list.

My list and a squad-by-squad look (including the online debut of my Chapter Master!) after the break.

Damn you, Matt and Harry.

I did get all ten of the Liberators from the above starter set painted (and was pleasantly surprised with the models and the painting results), so a post detailing my first foray into the world of Age of Sigmar should be coming up soon.

GW Game Day – May 4th, 2016

IMG_4248

Being anxious to get newly painted elements of my Ultramarines some game action, I set up a game with my usual gaming buddy Matt. The mission we rolled was an Eternal War Purge the Alien game, which meant no objectives aside from victory points. Just the kind of mission I was looking for!

Below is a quick rundown of my 2500 point 30k Ultramarines List:

HQ:
Praetor (Pride of the Legion) + 7 Invictus Suzerains (w/ Legion Banner)
Master of Signal Consul

Elites:
Contemptor Mortis (w/ dual Kheres)
Apothecary

Troops:
2x 10-man Veteran Tactical Squads (1 w/ Rhino)
15-man Legion Tactical Squad (proxied by “allied” Luna Wolves)

Fast Attack:
10-man Seeker Squad (w/ Rhino)
2x Land Speeders (in squadron)
5-man Locutarus Storm Squad

Heavy Support:
Legion Vindicator
Legion Whirlwind Scorpius

I built the army around shooting, with some choice counter-charge units in the Praetor + Suzerains and the Storm Squad. This was my first game with a large number of template weapons in my army, and I was lucky enough to roll the Warlord Trait that gives them Shred, although I forgot to use this most of the time 😦

Find out how it did against Matt’s Emperor’s Children (led by Fulgrim!) after the break.

Painted: Ultramarines Apothecary

https://threeupblog.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/apothecary1.jpg

After having painted my Master of Signal I wasn’t quite ready to return to painting another block of infantry, so I decided to paint another (semi) character – an Apothecary. I had a Command Squad box lying around with the required bits, and figured giving one of my larger infantry blocks a Feel No Pain save would be useful, so I got to building.

More details and pics after the break.

Hello, world!

Hello, and thank you for stumbling upon this particular corner of the internet! Come, stay awhile and listen.

Wargaming and the painting of little plastic and metal men has been part of my life since I was a wee lad in junior high school; I’ve left and re-joined the hobby over the years, but I’ve recently rediscovered my passion for the hobby and wanted to have a place where I could document my successes (and failures) on the painting table and the table top. So here we are!

Most of my posts will be either Warhammer 40k or Bolt Action related, although there may be the odd post from new games as I expand my tabletop gaming horizons.

Either way, prepare to see lots of different shades of power armor, along with some poorly painted WWII Americans. 🙂
